Building mappings
Source-field paths, transform expressions, vendor overlays, and how the AI copilot fills gaps.
A mapping tells Kairos how to turn your business object (an order, a claim, a remit) into an X12 transaction. Every element in the template is a row you can point at a source field.
Source field paths
Dotted paths into your object. Arrays use bracket notation:
order.number buyer.dunsNumber lineItems[].sku lineItems[].qty
Transform expressions
Optional functions applied to the raw value. Supported today:
- upper — uppercase the value
- lower — lowercase the value
- formatDate('CCYYMMDD') — parse a date and emit CCYYMMDD
- substring(0, 10) — inclusive/exclusive substring
- literal('X') — pin a fixed value
Vendor overlays
Selecting a vendor on a mapping applies that vendor's envelope defaults and marks its required fields — the mapping refuses to activate until the required rows are filled.
